    How a forum works

How many forum posters does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs

15 People to post "I can't see S$%^!" and use their own light bulbs

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that Some elected official isn't the brightest bulb.

4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.

1 moderator to lock the light bulb thread.

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

      Well you missed a few

There is the first to post

The second to post and say they will be first next time

The post of I don't know why I'm posting but it helps my post count

Some one to chronicle the whole mess.

You also missed the post that has nothing to do with lightbulbs except the poster mentions he changed one back in 1974.

Lamps, Light bulbs? I changed 58 of the suckers at church today had to unbolt and move 24 pews so the d+*& lift could get in there to go up 28ft so they could be changed. First time in 50 years some of them have been changed. I am the Church Council Vp and the Council President and my nephew helped took us 10 hours. The pews are solid oak built in the late 1950's and must weigh 200lbs each. We had 4 start to come apart at the glue joints, so tomorrow we go back and glue them. Bad thing was we got all the pews back in place the lift on the trailer and came back in and the last and hardest to get to bulb was out. That bulb is for the next generation to take of. The congregation is celebrating it's 90 anniversary on Sunday so we have been working on many projects to spruce the place up and this was the last project. I am getting to old for this type work and I am one of the young ones. How's that for High Jacking a thread? But it is the truth

And 3 posters who hijack the thread because it reminds them of "lite" beer, "Light weight" and "light at the end of the tunnel" . . .

I'm probably not the first to tell you there is a better way to do it.

I guess this means that when we all switch to LED lighting the internet will collapse.

At least one to say they had a real good discussion about lightbulbs (light bulbs) at another forum that I read about 8-10 years ago, but I can't remember where it was, try googling 'light bulb', I'm sure it'll come up right away because it was quite a discussion.....

I can't be certain without seeing a picture of the light bulbs (or is it lightbulbs?), but one of the following should chime in on this.

I will take a picture tomorrow after church to give you some Idea of the project. The biggest problem is the 50 year old lighting system with a huge reostat/Dimmer. My nephew is an Elctrician and works for a large contractor so he was able to get the lift for free, otherwise it was going to cost several thousand dollars to have it. and the church couldn't afford it. AT our age we weren't about to go up a 30 ft. extension ladder.
