FINALLY.
Soon you will understand. Only a few more months until the Christmas special, then 12 until it rematerializes. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice. -
I only wish that it didn't cost an arm and a leg to upgrade to a cable package that included sci-fi (I think it may have even moved to digital cable only). So I wait to get the DVDs from netflix. The second series of Torchwood is at the top of our queue, but they say there's a long wait for it. You have it easier in Canada.

I would MUCH prefer to be able to order the channels I am interested in. Then I would have the cable hooked to the tv instead of just the cable modem with the cable just disconnected instead of at the TV.I only wish that it didn't cost an arm and a leg to upgrade to a cable package that included sci-fi (I think it may have even moved to digital cable only). That said, I viewed all of Season 4, and Torchwood seasons 1 & 2 via You Tube.
I once thought and looked into buying ALL the Dr. Who episodes, but got a little po'd when I found out ordering them as a bundle, was more expensive then ordering them individually. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We have all of the original series that are currently released. I started with a number of them (I think Key to Time was first) and added to that over time. We eventually got to the point of having all that were released, and not pre-order as new ones come out. But the new series are a bit more expensive than I care to buy right now. Once the price drops, I'll get them too.
And I hear you about the cable... ala carte would be a big improvement (and the cable company would get more $ from me. I refuse to get the huge package, but I'd buy a few more channels)

I have cable mainly for Sci-fi and all the movie channels, cable modem too. I'd love to be able to get rid of all the other stuff and pay for just what I want.
I really wish Sci-fi was broadcast in 5.1 surround. The digital package I have is not in surround. I really liked it when Stargate was on showtime (or something), it was in 5.1 It's not that big of a deal, but it would be nice.
Richard, is that a repeat? or is it the first time it has aired up there?ErikComment

Jim, any idea how many of the first two Dr.'s are available now? I believe almost all of Jon Pertwee's survived.
It hasn't aired up there yet, and I don't know about Torchwood season 2. We emailed back and forth, as he recommended Torchwood. In a funny kind of way, he caused me to find them on You Tube. I REFUSE to buy something I haven't seen (there are ENOUGH bad shows I didn't want to be disappointed), and it wasn't available locally. I saw all of them and it was decent, but not worth owning in my opinion.
I would like to see the Sylvester McCoy and Collin Baker episodes, as the only Sylvester McCoy one that aired, was the ending of Peter Davidson's era. I felt I missed a little between the ending of the old, and beginning of the new.
And in a few months I can attribute my siganture. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.Comment

It's been a while, but I believe I saw most all of the Dr. Who episodes. A local PBS station aired them on weekends, along with Red Dwarf and a few other gems. I always had a preference for Tom Baker. Christopher Eccleston often reminded me of him. My dad would always razz me about the cheap effects, especially from the very early episodes. I always said, "that's what an imagination is for"
I haven't really gotten into Torchwood. I've seen many, but I have not made a point to catch the shows.ErikComment

We have been watching season two of Torchwood on Space TV. It airs on Friday nights at ten. Although my daughter has been watching the doctor on utube, I prefer to wait until it's on my big screen and even though it's not broadcast in 5.1, it still sounds good on the surround. I'm at work now, so I don't have that information with me. But at home I have a spreadsheet with all sorts of info on this stuff. Which are on DVD in all or part, which are lost, and I think even which companion(s). PM me your email address and I'll shoot you a copy this weekend if you'd like. Let me know if you can open an Openoffice.org file or if I need to convert it as well.

That last season of Dr. Who was awesome. And now they will skip a season? It's going to be a long wait...
Torchwood just doesn't work for me, some of the stories were downright revolting. Sarah Jane Adventures is OK.Comment
