Jean found this interesting "globe" for me (sorry for the poor picture - click to enlarge):
It's made from old UK coins. The base is an old "two-shillings" piece, the support is from part of an old penny and the globe itself from two half-pennies. The coin dates are all 1959, made by this guy who we met at a craft show recently. He also makes chess sets, which go for between $1400 and $2000 - they're really amazing. All the coins are themed, Tudor Roses, Edward VII, etc. Fantastic use of "dead" currency.
