    Thinking About Moving

Are there any members here that live on the Olympic peninsula?

We are tired of the city and apartment living so will be making a trip to Sequim Wa in the next week or two to look for a house. We have enjoyed living here but it gets depressing at times when everyone is at least 15 years older than us and half use walkers.
A nice house, patio and our own cooking really sounds good,of course a garage is a must.

Are you kidding me? No, I don't live on the OP, but I'd probably kill a man for a chance (if I could get away with it).

I say if you can make it happen, waste no time in doing so.

You know there are really nice places over here to buy. That is if you like the wind in the spring time.

What a beautiful place to live. Find one with a view and enjoy.

We spent a week there on vacation two years ago. Lots of build up of the worst kind along 101 but still nice at the shore. My feelings were, too much there for being out in the country and not enough to give you the amenities of a large town. Home Depot, WallyWorld, Costco and the like but the down town seems to be dying.

While I liked the weather there was little to do, you can only walk to the lighthouse so many times.

I liked Port Townsend better, Anacortes was another nice place. I would suggest spending a week or more there getting the feel of the place.

Oh yeah, it seems Sequim in the Lavender capital of the world or perhaps just Washington, if you like the stuff......

Bill, way down here on the Sunny Southern Oregon Coast.

There is a house next to us that I think is for sale or it used to be but it doesn't have a shop but you could build one or you could add on to ours with us and we could have one big shop. Oh and the neighbor next to that house has a huge shop and he is a cabinet maker friend of my parents.

Oh and BTW we don't have much rain over this way and you can get a place with a view of some really beautiful mountains.

No, I live near the I-5 highway mess, north of Marysville, 45 miles north of Seattle. We want to move as well. It is getting too crowded for us. When we moved near Marysville, it was about 10,000 people, now it is around 50,000.

Thanks Melissa, Ellensburg is a nice town but way to hot in the summer.

Hoover; I know what you mean, I spent the last few years working part time for Mercer Marine at Dagmar's.

Mr Bill; Port Townsend and Anacortes are both nice but Sequim offers much better weather.

I firmed up motel reservations yesterday, we will be going to Sequim on 9/2 and spend a week looking at what is available.

                    Hi Dick,
If you don't find anything to your liking in Sequim, take a few hours on the way back to check out our area - Hansville/Kingston. The weather at the north end of the Kitsap Peninsula is not quite as balmy as Sequim, but it sure beats Seattle. There are lots of "Price Reduced" signs on good sized lots. We are boating up north and west right now or I would invite you in for a cuppa.
                    regards,
                    Charlie

As someone who has passed through there a few times, I'll second the opinion about Hansville. I have a friend who lives there and am always impressed with that part of the peninsula. Maybe a little remote for some, but quite nice to my liking.

                      Regards, Steve

I second the Port Townsend idea. PT is a really nice town with all kinds of activities. It also has a very active woodworking community. There is a wooden boat building school, etc. It is also the home of Edensaw which has a 10,000 sq ft showroom just for hardwoods. They also carry some turning supplies, finishing supplies and a nice selection of power and hand tools. I was just there yesterday. Wish I lived closer. Those dogs also are in the same Olympic rain shadow as Sequim, so it hardly rains.

You might want to check it out. I think home prices are pretty reasonable, although I'm not sure. Better than Seattle for certain.

                        Best wishes,
                        Eddy

We lived in Gig Harbor (Up on Key Peninsula a little southwest of port Orchard)
We loved it out there.. I wish I'd never let the company move us to Denver.. things have sucked since then.

At least I'm back in Washington again..
