Or maybe I'm just an idiot. I've been using Firefox for about 3 weeks, and I still have a hard time remembering to use the tabs properly. I'm tired of seeing the message asking me if I want to close the program. This new fangled stuff gives me a headache.

I have to use Ctrl-T or go to the File menu. I like in the newest IE that I can
click on a little tab and a new tab opens.

If you surf with lots of windows/sites open at once then the tabbed browsing feature is great. give it a little while...

I use Firefox v.3.0.1, which I believe is the current version. It certainly does have a "new tab" button... It's the little file folder with the green plus sign... I wouldn't be without this feature.

Look at the <Tools><Options><Tab> window. There are several variations on opening new tabs automatically.

<Tools><Options><Main> gives options for when FireFox starts. I use it a lot.

To close FF without getting asked "Save Session" box:

<Tools><Options><Tabs> and uncheck "Warn me when closing multiple tabs"

That makes two of us and I don't think we are idiots.

I have been using Firefox for a month and still have to be reminded about the tabs being open. I am grateful for that reminder and hopefully one of these days I won't need it any more.

After all, if I close the tabs properly then the reminder won't appear.

They way I have it setup (not sure if its default or not) is that if you press the mouse wheel on a link, it opens in a new tab. Also, if you right click on a link, there is an option to open in a new tab. For a new blank tab, I'd imagine that if you customize the toolbar, you can add that.
