80kms travelled
ü As with every NEW vehicle I have had, I waxed the bike. Apart from helping to protect the paintwork, chrome etc., you get to examine every square millimeter of the surface – in this case, no problems found J. Beautiful paint job.
ü So, Kirby – now you have to ride it! Gear on, aimed out the driveway – haven’t felt so afraid, anxious, excited, since my first ****. Drove it around the block (in total terror), about 10 times thinking, what do I do when I encounter another vehicle! Our local streets are busy, particularly on a Saturday morning, but the fact was much better than the anticipation.
ü Drove to Bunnings (= Oz Home Depot). Behind the store is a large Commercial Park – empty on a Saturday morning. After about 20 minutes, doing left/right turns, slow driving; feeling much better. I can go from Zero to 100kms/hour in about 6 seconds!
ü Drove to Carba-Tech (=Oz Rockler) to pick up an order – about a 1 hour round trip. The hardest thing was remembering to turn off the indicator – can’t hear anything of course, and the light on the dash doesn’t show up much in the sunlight.
ü Drove to a friend’s place – about 1-1/2 hour round trip. Other drivers seem to equate the L-plate with driving slowly – they got a real surprise when I was first off the lights. When I checked my mirrors, they had barely started moving. Love that acceleration J.
ü Smiling waves from some very nice (young!) girls – they couldn’t see the gray hair under the helmet! Yeah, I know – it was the bike.
ü What a great day – I feel ALIVE. Now, if the weather is good – I’ll be riding. If it isn’t; into the Shed for some WW J
