    Braggin' on the LOML

I have been looking for a bike due to the gas prices. I am putting $100 a week in the Ram. I stopped at Alamo Harley in San Antonio yesterday to check their used inventory. That consisted of one '95 Fat Boy. Waiting on a salesman, I was walking around the showroom looking atr the new Harleys. LOML was talking financing with him while I was talking bikes.

I can't justify $18,00+ for a bike but, after we were in the car, I asked if she was serious. She said yes because she knew that a Harley was my dream bike and the gas savings would just about make the payments.

    Love that woman!

I've always had rice burners and even the largest one (Goldwing) got better mileage than a Harley. It was a better tourer, faster, quieter, and a whole lots more comfy.

But since it's been a few years since I've ridden, I've been hankering for another bike. Since I've never owned a Harley, just ridden them, I'm actually considering one. I think I've been talked out of a boat, so LOML and I have been talkin' and she's for it as long as there is a sissy bar or tour box with a pad.

That ka-plunk, ka-plunk, ka-plunk can be mesmerizing. Has that power appeal. I'd probably opt for a tour set up versus a sportster style. Maybe I'll come to Texas and you and I will get a better deal on two. Whaddya think?

Sounds a lot like my wife, but I really don't want a bike. She did tell me to buy the table saw of my choice, though.

Some wives are very good about letting us have our toys. Although we weren't actually married at the time, my wife "made" me buy an expensive vehicle - used - that I am still enjoying.

Got back to reality today. Stopped to test ride an '01 KZ1000P (P=Police bike). Fairly clean and plenty of power, but it sits high. In the saddle, I was up on the balls of my feet. $3500 is a good price, but I want a cruiser style and I'm not sure I want to compromise for price.

Just keep looking for the bike you want, and you will find the perfect deal. Just don't trade the wife.

It is the LOML fault I am on the site. She purchased the BT3K 1st year out and presented it to yours truely at Christmas. I'm keeping this one!

Pappy, you are a very lucky man. My LOML has softened a little on the bike subject with the recent run up of gas prices. But living in MI , it is hard to justify the price for about a six month riding season. Then again, if the economy keeps going the way its been in Michigan I might have the chance to relocate. The last one out of the state please turn off the lights, a very sad state of the economy.

I wish ya'll would stop calling all the expensive, expertly crafted tools that we all have so that we can produce all those handsomely crafted pieces of unique wooden items; "toys". My LOML read one of the post one time and basically said; "Ah ha, I was right they are toys!" Now I have to think up new tactic's for an excuse to replace a tool with a bigger, better, more expensive item! Drats!
