    Vide Camera Steadycam.

This isn't woodworking so I stuck it here. I found these plans for a steadycam

    http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/

It works on the same principle as me attaching a drogue behind my kites. Wondering if it would be more effective to use PVC instead of metal pipe? PVC is easier to work with and I have most of the fittings. My weight would be 3" pipe filled with sand. Since it is lighter I could make the weight on the end heavier and more of the mass differential is concentrated down at the weighted end. The lines I have for my kites to attach drogues are all as light as possible to concentrate the mass at the drougue. Some guys use fishing line.

I saw another version/idea. A strap attached to the tripod mount and you step on it. Steadies the camera rather well and is pocketable. I haven't shot vidio with it but for panoramas and zoom it's great.

You can make one with a few feet of rope and a 1/4-20 eyebolt. Tie the rope to the eyebolt, screw the eyebolt into the camera and step on the other end of the rope. Pull up against it and presto, no shake.

Thanks guys. My brother is an amateur photographer and suggested the rope trick too. I will try that. I've already tried the elbow against my side trick but that doesn't work too well when you are laughing at what you are filming.
