    Lumber sources in upstate NY

Well I've finally relocated to upstate NY from AZ. It's nice to be back where maple, oak, and other trees grow all by themselves. Now I'd like to find some sources of rough lumber for local woods. Anyone have any leads on good wood in the Hudson Valley or greater NYC area?

    Thanks,
    Bill

      Bill,

I live in Rockland County, it might even be near you.

I get all my wood at ML Condon in North White Plains.

There a bit pricey, but they have good stock and the yard guys are really helpful and they let you go thru piles of stock, as long as you replace them. Otherwise they ban you from the yard for life.

PM me and let me know where you live as they also have a yard up in Stormville, which is suppose to have even a better sellection.

Well I called the Stormville yard and they basically said "Don't come here". The retail yard is the White Plains yard. Guess I have to go there anyway even though it's very much farther away.

Rockland County? White Plains? Bill, I thought you said UPSTATE New York.

I'm originally from Syracuse, and married a girl from Schenectady. It always tickles my funny bone to hear folks from Westchester and Rockland counties tell people they're from "Upstate" New York!

Yes, as is always been there case in the Hudson Valley (Dutchess County) people from NYC say that I'm just an apple knocker from upstate. They think after the Metro North line stops there's just cows, apple orchards and dirt roads. Meanwhile, I'm still hours and hours away from the Canadian border or PA. A short hop skip and a jump from CT.

So even a decent supplier in CT would be fine.

            Thx,
            Bill
