    Viva le tour......?

Well, the tour de france is under way, and the first week this year is sure to be more exciting than it has been in a while, thanks to the restructure. I'm still a little ticked that Astana was prevented from racing, considering that they pretty much replaced the entire drug issue laden team, including race director. I don't know how much more they could have done, except maybe just rename the team?

So Contador and Leipheimer are out. I was going to root for Levi again this year. Now I'm throwing my support behind Ausi Cadel Evans..

    any thoughts?

I can't warm up to Evans, although he has a great chance to win, and he's been riding very well.

I want to like Valverde, who has all the talent needed, but he hasn't shown he has the patience to win a GT. Today's effort did nothing to dissuade me from disbelieving.

I like Damiano Cunego. If he can TT well he has a puncher's chance, IMHO. He has also ridden very well this year.

Oh Keith, we have a member that doesn't want the forum to "ruin" the ongoing results. It may include any discussion, I really don't know. If it were me, I would just check the results before reading the forum. So, for now, mums the word from me.

I'll save you the trouble of watching. They will all fail the drug testing. Controversy will rain like frogs from the sky during the apocalypse. No one will win.

Thanks sparkeyjames for the yearly obligatory all cyclists are dopers statement. We should just stop watching all sport, as they are all dopers. 8 Chinese swimmers, who knows how many baseball players, and we really have not yet looked at the NFL or NHL...

I think I'll go the trouble of watching the tour. It is usually interesting to see who does fail the tests, and who doesn't. Or for that matter the nature of the "random" drug testing. I think they randomly selected Lance 14 times the one year...hmm...

          Sad about Landis though....

Ok, pointless drug conversation over, on with the tour.

C'man, the "no spoilers" rule means that we shouldn't mention the results of today's stage. There are 20 more stages to come, so there's plenty of time for discussion of who has a chance, who isn't showing winning capability, who failed to step up yesterday, etc.

Sparkey, you are correct, an overreaction, just sick of talking about the cycling drug deal. Also sick of being run of the road, hit by cars, spit on, told off for no evident reason, all of the crap that comes from riding and racing in the states.

So yeah, I'm probably a bit touchy about it all.
