    Been In Hospital

I woke up Sunday morning with some crampy feelings in my gut. Felt like I had a load of gas or really had to go. The pain stayed with all day and even kept me awake Sunday night. Monday came and I felt no better so I call off work and called into the doctors. They sent me to the hospital for some tests and the hospital kept me there. Seems I had Diverticulitus( infection in the bowels). I was put on IV with fluids and heavy antibiotics for the next few days. I couldn't even eat during this time so to give my bowel a rest. Finally today the doctors let me start with some apple juice and work up to a strained soup. As I was able to hold all that down they let me come home with the promise that I would keep to broths for a few days( plus a load of pills to take).

Well, I guess it will be a while before I get bake into the shop. I'll be resting all next week too. We were already eating healthy but there are some foods that will have to change. More fibre and eliminate foods with nuts and seeds.

Time to go put my feet up. The only good thing to come out of this is now I get waited on

Sorry to hear you've been down. I know diverticulitus is no fun because my MIL spend a week or so in the hospital with it. Hope you feel better soon.

Well Richard, sooner or later there will be relief. You have my sympathies, I know your pain. Did you get suggestions to drink more water, in addition to the fiber thing?

Richard, I hope you get better quick.

My FIL had that long time ago and he felt like h376 for about a week or so. Same as you with the hospital and all. It's a bummer just liquid for food, but hang in there and you'll soon be well enough for a steak or at the least something good to CHEW on. Take it easy...

Oh wow. This gives new meaning to "liquid diet." As long as I've brought it up, any restrictions on alcoholic beverages? I know they dehydrate, so may cause problems.

Feel better, and watch out for the nuts (dual meaning for you now).

              Hang in there

Been there, done that, got the Tee Shirt, as they say. It will get better, but your days of enjoying peanuts are about over. I was diagnosed with this about three years ago. With the diet changes, it can be controlled.

So I've been looking into the diet changes that I'm going to be making and fortunately, things won't be much different from where I'm at now. Wife is diabetic so we already eat well but there are few things that I will need to cut out, as healthy as they are. Alcohol is a big no-no for a couple of weeks until I'm done all the medication. Those are some wild pills they gave me. Expensive too; glad I have a plan through work as they only cost me six dollars.

I know a lot of Canadians can knock our health care system but it came through for me. I have nothing but respect for the ER nurses at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. They are fantastic and caring. Some of them were certainly angels in my eyes.

Now on the down side. Tomorrow will be my birthday. LOML has bought me a small compresser and nailer. I can only enjoy it in the box for a while.

Hope you're feeling better soon. I bet it's good to be home, even with the restricted diet.

You'll be gnawing on sticks 'n' twigs before you know it! Bummer on the diverticulitis, bud, but you're on the way! God bless!

wow! i didnt even see your thread. sorry to hear you went thru that ordeal, but it looks like you are much better now. glad to see that you are starting to eat.

did they say how or why that happened or happens?

keep your diet to what they say and you will soon be nailing away with that new compressor. all in time.

                            happy b-day!
