98 Buick LeSabre, anyone ever owned one?

In the Buick series, anyone ever owned one (it or sister cars), with the Generation II 3.8 liter?

What kind of mileage did you get?
Anything your aware of to look out for? (I know about the plastic intake with the metal part, the reason I got it cheap).

The vehicle is in great shape, and my mechanic, has serviced it for years (knows the owner, said it is worth fixing, owner wanted new)

I bought it to repair, for my nephew, for his first car. Probably going to be busy the next week (working shop time, for parts)
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

depending on how much you gave for it, you can't go wrong. I have built many of those and its siblings over the years. Everything from total losses due to body damage and numerous mechanicals. The Buick is tried and true as is the GM 3800 engine.

I had a '97 LeSabre. It was a great car that my grandson wound up with when I bought a new Lucerne. The LeSabre was a very solid, dependable, comfortable car. They are prone to rust along the body, just below the doors (rocker panels). Other than that, no problems whatsoever. Living in a more southern location, the rust might not be a problem at all. MPG? I think it was around 17 around town, and 26 on the highway.

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

My FIL has had a string of LeSabres over the years. He likes 'em a lot. He's 87 now, so is probably on his last one, as his deteriorating driving abilities are of mounting concern to his daughters.

My parents are on their 4th Park Avenue (very similar to the LeSabre). They actually have two right now. My dad drive the '89 to work, it has 250k+ miles on it. My mom drives the newer one (2000 or newer). They have been happy with all four they've owned. I don't think any of them was bought with fewer than 100,000 miles. The newer one will approach 30 mpg on the highway. I don't know what it gets in city driving.
