I wish more cities would crack down on such senseless and wanton acts.

Reminds me of April fools this year. I have a co-worker who loves this holiday. She put up a whole lot of post it notes in the boss's office and while both the boss and I were bowling, tuesday night, she came and put a couple of rolls of plastic wrap around the boss's mini van. And then while I was still finishing up my bowling game she came and TP'd my Yukon. Well the boss came and picked me up after I got home and made sure the kids were in bed and we went and found the co-worker. She was parked in front of the store where we work getting some pop so the boss and I snuck up and used about 8 cans of silly string on her car. We covered the thing and the best part is she didn't see it till we were almost done with her car.

So maybe I need that sign to put up around our store come April 1st next year.

What if one was to use an off-brand, foaming projectile--say a "flying yarn" or something similar? Is that OK?

When they nail your car with that junk, go to BORG, get a can of expanding foam and return the favor to their car.

An outstanding reason to deploy overtime police officers!

LAMC = Los Angelas Municipal Code???? The code would make sense if that is right!

Maybe it was only a problem on Halloween?

                    good guess!!

some back story (it is old news):

                    http://www.lapdonline.org/october_2004/news_view/20641

                    excerpts:

The ordinance calls for a maximum $1000 fine and/or six months in jail for use, possession, sale or distribution of Silly String in Hollywood from 12:01 a.m. on October 31 to 12:00 p.m. on November 1.
On a typical Halloween night, up to 100,000 people come to Hollywood Boulevard in search of something to do. Given the lack of a formal event, hundreds of illegal vendors flock to the street and sell Silly String which then becomes the sole source of entertainment for the night.
Los Angeles City personnel are deployed from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), Department of Transportation, Bureau of Street Services and Department of Sanitation to protect and clean up the Silly String "event." The financial costs to the city are detrimental as they exceed $200,000 for this one night.
They sure do know how to ruin a good time!
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas Edison

                      Even better

Our wonderful lawmakers here in Sacramento CA are hatching a new plan to outlaw mylar balloons. Some say they are the cause of one or two power outages. It is currently illegal to sell such a balloon without some kind of weighted anchor attached.

They can't agree on passing a budget but they have time for this!
