Prayers needed for my 3 yr old son

I haven't been very active in the recent past, but still log on to see what is going on here every so often.

Right now I'm at a loss for words ... but could really use your prayers from those of you here that do.

This past Monday our 3 year old son was diagnosed with having Leukemia (A.L.L.) out of the blue and happened to be caught randomly from a recent blood test done as part of his yearly check-up and all we thought was that he wasn't feeling well due to his ear infection he had.

Doctors are very excited and expecting a full recovery ... but it's overwhelming and we haven't been sleeping much since ... we do believe miracles still happen

So when you go to bed tonight, say a prayer for a little fellow named Zachary ...

    Thanks & God Bless You

I too have not been active of late -- my 1 yr old has been keeping me quite busy, though like you I lurk and lurk. I can only imagine the anguish you and your family are going though. A prayer certainly will be offered for you and Zachery.

Prior to the job I am in now, I was the Director of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's research programs and your doctors are quite correct in their optimism. I would urge you to check out the Society's website at www.lls.org. They have a wealth of resources for you and your son. Contact them, it will be well worth it. I am not sure exactly where you are, but they have one or two offices in your province:
      THE GREATER TORONTO AREA CHAPTER
      480 University Avenue, Suite 1502
      Toronto, ON M5G 1V2
      (416) 585-2873
      1 (866) 585-2873 (Toll Free)
      (416) 408-3840 (Fax)

      THE HOME OFFICE CANADA
      804 - 2 Lansing Square
      Toronto, ON M2J 4P8
      (416) 661-9541
      (416) 661-7799 (Fax)

There is a lot of research going on in Canada, and in particular check out the Ontario Cancer Institute.

From all that I have seen while I was at the Society and in my own personal situation, you have to be committed and active in your medical treatment (in this case, your son's). Doctors and nurses are wonderful, caring and compassionate, but they are only human. Seek out experts, get second opinions, educate yourself and turn over every stone you can. It will payoff and go a long way in getting the care you need and deserve.

Good luck and my prayers are with you and your family.

      Regards,

      Greg

Prayers are up. Be encouraged that they are doing wonderful things with this disease nowadays, particularly if caught early. A positive attitude (yours and his) will also help immensely. Keep us posted...

My thoughts and prayers are and will be with your family and Zac. Kids are remarkable in their ability to overcome such illness.

Be assured that you're close to two of the best children's hospitals in the world. My prayers are out to your son and family.
