    Alone in the Wilderness

Anyone ever seen this movie? It plays on PBS quite often. It a story about a man that moves to Alaska in the 60's when he is in his 50's to live a life of solitude in a remote area of Alaska. He is alone and the filming is from a tripod. Its a good movie but the part I really like is how he makes his log cabin from hand tools.

He must be really good at sharpening a saw.
    Thanks again,
    Mike

I love that and it drives my wife crazy watching it whenever its on. Even bought the book which goes into a little more detail on the building side. I like how he struggled with having to use plastic under the sod on the roof, because it was not a natural product.

My son often laughs about the "Its a toasty 42 degrees inside" comment he makes when it's around 30 - 40 below outside.

Ripping that flat dimensional lumber vertically with a handsaw must have been a killer.

Wonder how many books he got read during a typical Alaska winter.

Watching him do all of those things by himself makes me happy that I have grown childern and some good friends. I do take my hat off to him though. All in all, well worth watching. I have, twice.
