    Working on sheds.

I guess this is what happens when people know just what your hobby is.

In the townhouse complex where I live, we had some major reno work done by a contractor, which included new concrete driveways and steps. The steps were formed so that everyone would have a shed under their front porch. Like this....

Unfortunately, the contractor declared bankruptcy and ran before finishing the work. We got a group of neighbours together to finish the railings for safety( as seen in the top pic). When it came to finishing the sheds, the work fell onto me bcause I have the tools.

First I had to build a divider to seperate the sheds into two.

Next I framed the doorways with pt 2x6's, drilling into the concrete and using tap-cons.

Finally comes the finished door built from cedar.

Now, none of this was truely square and there were no standard measurements. Everyone has to be custom built.

Nothing special, but it keeps me out of trouble most nights. My time is given freely because I want to see the work finished. All I can say is I had better not hear any whining about power tool and the noise when I get back to my own projects.

That is a lot of work to do for free. I'd sure hope on of your neighbors would start a fund drive to buy you a decent HD or Lowes gift card for all your hard work.

I'd play it the same way I do when LOML wants a project done: "Well, I could, but I'd need a XXXX" (insert name of tool that may or may not actually be required)

Very nice work. I really like the choice of materials.

You got that right. Looks like you did a fine job. I hope your neighbors appreciate it.

It sure is a clever way to use the space. It's admirable that you donate your time. By the time you finish all of them, this could turn into a specialty that would put you in demand worldwide. Hey...nothing wrong with wishful thinking.

Richard, I surely hope they are at least buying you some beer.

Talk is some of the neighbours are planning a big BBQ for the end of june to thank me and the other neighbour who is helping. He came down and asked me to show him the "right" way to build the doors and has been helping when he has time. Saves me doing 24 houses by myself.
