Tonight is the season finale. My wife and I are "Lostie's"

I did a bunch of reading on the show tonight to see if I have missed anything. I don't believe I have missed any episodes. I noticed a reference to the manuscript that Sawyer was reading on the show as being a book published in "real life". It is called Bad Twin by Gary Troup. Troup is a character from the show and the book was actually published by a ghost writer. I checked it out from my University's library and thought I'd give it a read.

I started watching Lost at the first episode. Got hooked and tried to get the LOML to start watching about halfway through the first season. She said "No, it looks stupid."

Fast forward a couple years....

I no longer watch it and the wife is a confirmed "lostie." She reads Lost websites like I do tool/woodworking sites.

Looks like the kids and I will be locked out of the master bedroom (where her TV is) between 9:00 and 11:00 tonight.

yeah, i watched the first episode and half the 2nd. wasn't sure about it. my wife got me to sit down one night as she rewatched the first 5-6 in a row, and I was hooked. It is real nice having something on tv in common

I used to follow the show regularly ever since it aired but after watching the 1st episode this season, I suddenly lost interest on the show.

The Big Bang Theory is the one that I followed this season and it's a hilarious show.

I can't wait. The only problem is that I like to watch the broadcast HD version rather than the DVR standard def. version. This causes some difficulty with the LOML (not a lostie) who has gotten used to walking into the room to talk to me and expects me to "pause" the program so that she can get my undivided attention. Can't do that with broadcast. Two hours of the show tonight could get messy.

We started watching at the outset, have missed only one episode ... but the show's title is increasingly an apt description of what we are. That's to say: LOST.

I'm about 90% persuaded the writers have no clear idea of EXACTLY where they're going; that they're making it all up as they go because they figure the show is so weird they can get away with it. Tonight's season finale is going to have a large bearing on whether we continue to watch. I'm getting tired of being toyed with; sooner or later, there has to be a payoff, in the form of a real explanation of exactly what is going on.

Yep, LOML and I are hooked also. We actually didn't get hooked until the second season. We have since gone back to watch all the first season on DVD--thanks to my awesome local library.

It's great going back and seeing little clues, which is the only hint that the writers know where they're going. I think they do know, they just TAKE THEIR BLOODY TIME TO GET THERE. One episode can go by, and it was nothing but filler. I love the show, though. There are A LOT of loose ends, that may have just been put in to throw people off the trail.

I'm thinking Whitmore and Ben are brothers (I don't read up on the net about the show, so maybe my theory has already been shot down). I also love all the Star Wars references.

Big Ditto on The Big Bang Theory. We LOVE that show.

I started watching just this season, a couple of months back to be exact - so I missed some of the early episodes of this season too. I expected to be confused - seeing that I missed out on all that came before (dunno how many seasons, is this the 4th?), so I am happy to note I was right .

But I am puzzled by the fact that so many regular watchers are also confused. How can a show keep their audience confused so permanently and still be so popular? If today's finale does not clear up most of the confusion, I might lose interest completely. Note that I said 'most', as a concession to the fact that not many of you expect it to clarify all; I did have hopes for that.

Maybe that's what keeps it apart from the rest : the lack of linearity. Will I be entertained if I get earlier DVDs and watch them now, or will it be pointless?

That reminds me - need to double check my TiVo is ready for the whole two hours.

LOML tried watching once for 10 minutes, then declared her head was spinning. She's a straight-line-story gal, with not too many characters or twists. She still yearns for I Love Lucy .

I will be putting it on a DVD. I refuse to stay up until 11pm so I put it on a DVD and watch at least the last hour on Friday night - nothing I like then anyway.

LOML likes it too so we don't have to fight over the TV. We do not take it too seriously, however. Some of the plot is pretty straight-forward. The previous flash backs and this seasons flash forwards make it a little confusing but also tell you something. It's hard to jump into any saga like this in the middle without confusion but the primary plot - people on an island some of whom want off and some who do not - is not very complicated. But then you have to figure out who is aligned with who and where they are going with the plot. Where they are going seems hopeless to me so we just watch.

Ahhhh!!!! I just realized I think it partially overlaps the NBA Western Finals!!! Oh well, the Lakers will probably blow them out anyways and start their first win to another 3-peat .

I didn't watch the first season at all. But after everyone I know raving about it so much I picked up the DVD and got hooked. I watched nearly all the episodes in one night. Great show great writing. I'm not so much a fan that I go on blogs (no TV show is that good )but I've yet to miss an episode since I started watching. It's by far my favorite show followed by 24 and smallville (big Superman fan ever since I was a kid). I really like the fact that they have an end date to when they're gonna end the series. Does anyone have any theories. My partial theory. (somewhat spoiler alert).....








I think Charles Whitmore was the former leader of the others and was the one who ordered the Dharma people killed. Ben took over, kicked him out and moved the island.

Well said! I finally gave up on it about 3 weeks ago.

I'm a total lost fan, watch every episode. Hope writers know where they are going. It is great to have an hour of TV per week that I know I can be totally engrossed in, and not worry about real life or my job. Sometimes an escape can be good.

Yes, I thought a fantastic finale. I still have so much wonder about the show, but I felt that there was no MAJOR cliff hanger that left me upset. Instead I just have my normal wonderings about what is going on, AND they answered the major question of who was in the coffin.
