Summer is the time when real men...

Switch from martinis to gin and tonics. I have discovered a new gin, Tanqueray's Rangpur lime, which makes a GREAT G&T. It has a hint of lime and citrus that is perfect for the sunny weather. Excellent warm weather drink--the lime wards off scurvy and of course the tonic water wards off malaria.

Any other thoughts about the perfect summer mixed drink??

Hmm... I like a good G&T. I am out of gin and will have to check that out. Thanks for the tip.

Tanqueray could certainly have done much better than using that extremely irritating Tony Sinclair character to hawk their hooch on TV (and, yes, I know he's fictitious...).

        Gin is for martinis.
Try Meyer' rum and tonic, squeeze of lime.
While you are at it , pour me another...... hic.

Can't think of a better summer time drink I'd rather have than a good old G&T. Will host one to the group while enjoying this afternoon at cocktail time.

Visiting family in England last year, I was initiated to their summer drink "Pimms #1". It's like a cross between ice-tea and sangria. Pimms is pre-mixed with gin, you add sprite (lemon soda in Uk), sliced stawberries, lemon, orange, cucumber, (and sometimes apple). It is fantastic!

Summertime for me is either cold beer or Snapple lemon iced tea with gin.

My very fave is an ice cold beer (or 12), but good hot weather relief can be found with a frozen maggie (margarita) or a Mike's Hard Lemonade mixed with a shot of Grey Goose, served on the rocks.

I'll have to say a Long Island Ice Tea puts the vig in vigor for me. G&T was a favorite of my first wife, so on general principle alone, I won't drink it.

I get a 32 oz. glass and fill it with ice, pour in four fingers of gin, 2 shots of rose's sweetened lime juice and fill the rest with diet tonic. After three or four of these I'm very "happy"

I just discovered a gin made here in CA. In the normal CA hippy dippy way, it is all "natural". As if booze can be "natural".

Anyway, they use real juniper berries and local botanicals. And, it tastes great neat or with Schweppes Tonic Water.

I'd like to try some of that sarticious.

Anchor in San Francisco also has a distillery in addition to their brewery.

Regardless of everyones particular tastes, would it be safe to say that life is too short to drink cheap liquor?? Can I get a "amen"?
