My father-In-Law was laid out in his coveralls like he would have been dressed in the shop.

        Not in a coffin!?

The ones I know of like that, were visitations precremation.

Now my grandfather on one side, joked with my uncle about how was he going to get in touch with him when he needed something technical explained/debated/troubleshot/etc.

Grandfather asked to be buried with a teletype (morse code) and then told Uncle Phil to add a cell phone. Everyone was debating about calling it when the casket was lowered. LOL
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

This is something that my family would do.

Actually when my grandmother passed away about 7 years ago and we were in the family viewing area and since I don't like things like that I was standing back with my mother while some of my cousins from Kentucky were standing there. I heard one of them say that it looked like she was sleeping. And before I could stop myself I looked at grandma laying there and looked at my cousin and proceeded to say "No it doesn't because her mouth isn't open and she isn't snoring like she is sawing logs." Next thing I know everyone is laughing.

One of my grandpas was buried with his cowboy hat. He was a lifelong cowboy and cowboys don't ride anywhere without their hat.

My other grandpa was terribly practical and frugal. When his never-married brother died he bought 3 plots next to each other and a headstone with 3 spots for names. George, John, and Selma all rest peacefully next to each other and are memorialized on the same stone.
We all just laugh and say "yeah, that's grandpa alright"
