Watch out for high-speed DVD disks

    http://www.maxell.co.jp/e/dvdhs/e/index.html

Just heard about this a few minutes ago. These disks can apparently render a non-upgraded (via firmware) drive useless. I imagine Maxell won't be along, but that TDK and others will be right behind them.

That is some old news regarding the transition from 1x recording to 2.4 and 4x recording. Current DVD recorders are operating in the 12x-20x range.

This should not be of concern to users other than those running machines that are 4-5 years old or older.

      Sorry, you're right. Ancient history.

maybe old news, but still good info considering you can always find these much older disks at places like odd lots etc.
