    Gmack are you ok?

Gmack, are you ok and did you get much damage?

Gmack lives in a small town close to Picher, OK. A tornado virtually destroyed Picher today, leaving 6 dead at last count. These storms have at last count left 16 dead in our area. This tornado stayed on the ground for a very long time starting in Chetopa, Ks. going through Oklahoma, and into Missouri. I heard of damage in Quapaw where Gmack lives, but no real details there.

    I hope everyone is ok.

    Picher, Ok

It was odd for Picher to be in the news twice today. Here is a story about the town that was posted on Msnbc today.

      Update

Quapaw was hit by the tornado also, and they have no power. It was hit on the north edge, and I believe, but I could be mistaken, that Gmack lived on the south end of town.
      I hope so.

        Thanks Bill, for the update.

The link to Pincher was interesting and sad, and now to be hit hard by the tornado.

          slide show

Here is a link to a slide show of the destruction in this area. I hadn't mentioned that they also got some pretty large hail. I live probably 20 miles north of the areas hit. I had some heavy winds and lost some tree limbs. We also had pea sized hail, but not a lot of it and somewhere under an inch of rain.

                I'm OK

I was out of town when the darn thing hit Town!
I didn't even know about it, till I got home Wed. afternoon, about 5 PM.
The tornado missed my house by about 6 blocks.
I live a block West of the Town Hall, right in the middle of town, between 4th and 5th streets
The tornado took the back side off of the school house, about 6 blocks North of my home. I got home too late to inspect the damage done to the town, but I'll check it out tomorrow.
