The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low cost is forgotten!

Minneapolis is in the process of installing wi-fi Internet service throughout the city. The system will be complete by late summer.

I've been on the system for about a month. My move was prompted by a recent rate increase, by Comcast, to over $64/month!

The wi-fi charge is $17.95/mo. As a charter subscriber I get the second year free with a prepaid first year. So now I have service for $9.00/month. (I bought the special wireless modem for $89.95.)

It took some tweaking to get my home wireless system set up, but the wi-fi company's help desk people were very helpful. (The help desk is here in town, not in India!)

I gave up Comcast's really fast service (5-7 Mps) for the standard wi-fi service of 1 Mps. It's a little slower for surfing, but I can watch a Youtube video in real time.

I hope the competition will force Comcast to review their pricing. They've lost 4 customers just on my block.

On of the biggest benefits to the city is that now all the city government services, police, fire, etc. are on the same system at a greatly reduced cost.
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...
