yeah, like the money that was spent to send us all letters about the "rebate" that we all already knew about?????? There's $42million (or whatever it was) that could have done something better.
About this topic, interesting, but I agree that this isn't the place. I bet there is a discussion on it at washingtonpost.com though.Mike

PHILOSOPHY and CIVILITY
The problem with "civil" debates (and many of you guys have done just that) is that these are fuses for others, and no one knows which simple statement will light the fuse. (Changing to the 'button' metaphor - ) We each have our own buttons that get pushed, and some of these "buttons" seem to be sensitive to air pressure changes, not needing a verbal or written push.
And respective to these "button pushing" episodes that sends civility flying, each of us can step back and say, "I am not that sensitive" . . . but so and so is just a hot head today!" Truthfully, each of us have our buttons and fuses, and the problem with "Religious and Political" discussions - are that they touch us at the core of who we each are. And many people see and view or filter almost everything and through political or religious colored glasses, as seen in the recent post on high gas costs in other countries.
It is the moderators responsibility to monitor situations like that and lock the threads when they go too far or the wrong way. However, politics and religion are the "lights to the fuses", the "buttons", the "eyes to the emotions" that awaken a dormant feeling. "Religion" is my field of study and I know how volatile that subject can be.
Discussions such as these are good in some formats, media and organizational structures, but not in formats such as online communities like this one, or in large family Thanksgiving get-togethers!
Please stay away from it here.Hank Lee

Did anyone look at the design for that thing? Where is the constitutional amendment against tacky?
Guess there is none. Can we get one passed soon? Neighbors pink flamingos and duck with the wind-driven wings are driving me nuts.
(BTW Agree with previous posters about politics on this forum, unless it is amusing or woodworking related.)Comment

After consulting with several of the Moderators I am locking this topic. Having to do so is not what I enjoy. To not lock it at this time would only encourage others to post further topics that are out of bounds for discussion on this forum.
To be clear further forum rules violations will be locked at minimum and possibly deleted at the discretion of any of the Moderators, Sam or Adele, or myself.Donate to my Tour de Cure
