    Lowes Customer Service

I know we all post when it's bad, but today it was good and it's only fair to say so.
Bought 28 Arborvite last year from Lowes. $30 each. Over the winter 12 died. So I called the store last week and the manager told me to bring the reciept and the trees into the store.
Thought it was odd that they would need the dead trees but I was game
Went to the Plymouth Metting PA store today and spoke to someone in lawn and garden and he told me to go to the service desk. I could not find my reciept and frankly did not remember how I paid for the trees. The woman at the desk said "No problem give me your drivers License and credited me $381.35 in store credit. WOW no hassel etc. All she did was call the associate and verify that the trees were returned..
I went back the guy in lawn and garden to thank him and he said "pull your truck around back" where he helped me unload the dead trees and load the new ones...
Great Service experience. I even got a $10 coupon....
I went back in and found the manager on duty and made sure to compliment the associate that helped me...
Every tool you own is broken, you just don't know it yet :-)

Good story. Not everybody is out to get us (just most everybody).

As long as we're yaking about the box stores, one of the HD's I go to is 2 blocks from a Lowes. It's pretty convenient when you gotta go from one store to the other to check prices.

Anyway, lately, I've been making Lowes the stop. There's less inside traffic, the shelves are more organized, wider isles, cleaner in general, and the help there is unfortunately as sparse as HD.

But, each store has at times the one thing needed.

Once in a while you find one that really cares about the customer!

They want you to bring the dead trees back because it cuts down on returns. Not everybody is willing to dig them up and bring them back. They probably also get some kind of credit from the nursery, but they need the tree to get the credit.

We bought about 15 at Home Depot last spring. More than half didn't make it. Had the receipt and they replaced them without any hassle.

I noticed that the the root ball was in clay - no hint of top soil. I'm guessing that the lack of topsoil may have contributed to their demise??? (They were looking sick BEFORE winter came).

its all about the person you meet at the store. if they are nice fellows, then they are really helpful, otherwise it could be the opposite. it reminds me of border crossing .

one of the lowes that i frequent, i know there are three managers there. out of the three, the two ladies dont budge on anything and look very uncooperative. however, the third manager, when i have had problems or price matches, he does them with out a problem. i dont see him as frequently there as i see the other two ladies. however, when you see that guy walking around, the literally stops and ask everyone how they're doing or do they need help.

so the mileage varies considerably at all the borgs.

                as a rule, lowes

Asa rule, Lowes is always better in my book. Too bad they're nto as common up here. I have a choice of about 9 home depots all in a 20-30 minute drive, but only 3 lowes. And while Lowes doesn't always have everything HD does, or has a on off brand from what HD carries, I try to go to Lowes if possible.

It has to be a corporate thing since both chains hire from the same labor pool. We're tightly bunched up around here, so the labor pool is almost the same. Especially since in the three locations where Lowes is, the HD ain't but a five minute drive away.
