    Whelp I'm Here

At the moment life ain't too bad. We got the problem figured out (we think) I caught the tail end of the free beer happy hour at the hotel and gonna go see Cleveland vs BoSox tomorrow night in a private box.

May try to squeeze in a trip to the Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

See, Ohio is not that bad. You JUST missed our snow, though.

If you can swing a trip a couple hours to the west, I'll buy you a beer or three...

If you want to take a 4 hour drive down this way I'll buy you several beers.

While up there don't forget to take in the Rock-N-Roll hall of Fame.

Sounds like an awfully tough schedule for a business trip! You are sure the boss doesn't read this forum, aren't you?

He doesn't Pappy. Besides which I left out the part about walking into a very unhappy client yesterday and listening to some yelling for a while plus the 2.5 hrs of work I had last night because I could not phone home back to work. And of course there is flying out on 36hrs notice.

Hey, no offense taken JR, after all, it is just Cleveland .

And I believe it was the Cuyahoga River, not Lake Erie that caught fire.

At 11:56 am on June 22, 1969, an oil slick caught fire on the Cuyahoga River just southeast of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland's image is still scarred as people recall how "the river caught fire." The 1969 fire is the most famous fire on the Cuyahoga River, even though a previous fire in 1952 on the Cuyahoga caused nearly thirty times the amount of damage. The 1952 fire caused over 1.5 million dollars in damage. No press photo exists of the 1969 fire - news agencies used photos from the 1952 blaze. Yet the day after the 1969 river fire, the two major Cleveland papers both ran front page pictures showing the aftermath of the fire. Only The Plain Dealer ran a short story on the fire. This was not the first time that the river had caught on fire. Fires occurred on the Cuyahoga River in 1868, 1883, 1887, 1912, 1922, 1936, 1941, 1948, and in 1952.

The fire also brought attention to other environmental problems across the country and helped lead to the passage of the Clean Water Act in 1972. http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/entry.php?rec=1642
