I just checked the member's list. He hasn't posted since June of 2005, before I became a member. But if I'm not mistaken, he was a member of the old Ryobi forum.

Wow. Bad things happen to good people. Sorry to hear that about Dave. I went through it once, and it is a tough pill to swallow for sure. It can take some time to get your second wind. Hopefully he will overcome it and rejoin the internet community. He certainly has been missed by me, if not by his missus.

odd, They refer to him as Dave in Malanda and that he moved to Cairns after the split. And we know him as Dave in Cairns which seems to be after the split. I wonder if that's all that happened. I hope he is able to get back to his passion soon, he's definitely an incredible artist.

I vaguely recall him posting that "art" wasn't paying enough and he'd have to get a real job.

Alas, this is often the case...

When Dave joined the Ryobi Forum he lived in Cairns. He later, about 2001 IIRC, moved to Malanda. It is sad to hear of his troubles. Dave was often posting some projects with step by step pics that gave inspiration to many. He started with raw timber, sized it on his BT3K and sculpted it into really beautiful things.

Did some looking for him on the Internet last night when I couldn't sleep. Seems like all his posts, on the various boards he posted on, stopped about the same time. A few other boards were asking about what happened to him him also.

His web site was changed, to something similar several years ago. But his new and old website are both no longer.

Did find a few people with the same name, but I don't think it's him. For example one was a marathon runner from Nevada.
