    Malware infection

I picked up a trojan malware program on my PC. It's called VirusHeat. It keeps popping up and saying I have spyware. It installed itself on the control tray.

Everytime I try to run a anti-virus program , the PC reboots. I tried manually delete the files and registry entries (I found a list online), but I can't find any.

I've tried booting up in safe mode and VirusHeat somehow gets installed.

Has anyone have experience dealing this? I would welcome any help.

Well, it can be removed manually but takes a lot of work and registry editing:

Norton & McAfee should be able to remove it according to their web sites.

Whether any of the free tools and scanners can remove it I don't know, even after a Google search.

+1 on this little jewel! I used it three times in the past week to eradicate infestations on friends' 'puters.

Another very useful utility I've recently found is TeamViewer 3 - it allows controlled access (password and session ID) through firewalls without having to create port and protocol rules - so I was able to do the above mentioned eradications from a remote location.

Try Ad-Aware from Lavasoft - there is a free version. Also SpyBOT, both programs are good.

I've used this a couple of times, with good results:

                mitfraudFix did the trick

                Thanks fbrend123,

SmitfraudFix did the trick. I tried all the others and the PC would crash half through the scan.

This one was the only one I could run in Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

                VirusHeat is one nasty bugger.
