Oregon Man Says He's Pregnant

I think this should be nominated for Creepiest News Title ever.

Born female, decided to have a sex change, but only, uhm, half-way. Got pregnant since he/she kept his/her reproductive organs intact. Anyone want to guess how messed up his/her kid is going to be?

I don't want to turn all judgmental here since I believe that people should be able to do what they want. As long as it doesn't impact other people. This man/woman can screw up his/her body all she wants, but if the pregnancy is just to make a socio-political statement, then I reserve my right to stand over him/her and deem him/her yucky. I mean there's a wife for crying out loud. Why couldn't she be pregnant instead of this male/female hybrid? I'm starting to suspect this whole adventure started just so they can write a title like the one in the news article.

Also, is gender assignment now optional? I am so protesting all the arbitrariness. Remember when men were men, and women were women? Then the men started to have long hair and look like women, and the women started to look like men. And now this. Oh, the insanity!

Truth is, I'm actually quite enjoying it. Who needs fiction if the real world is so darned kooky?

Added: Just in case anyone wants to see a picture of the pregnant "guy" (I'm still ambivalent about outrightly calling him a male), here's the link. He really does look like a guy. I think my conservative world view is going up in smoke.

Oh, and the Advocate article mentions that the wife had hysterectomy, and the precludes her getting pregnant. So much for that part of my rant.

The more I read about this story the more I think WTF!!!!!! I also see more and more red flags that say publicity stunt!! Why change from a female to a male, but only do it part way??!! I understand that people are gay / lesbian. I understand that people were born in the wrong body, and want to change. I understand people that dress / act like the opposite sex. But to want to change, and then only do it half way??!?!!

If you want to try and be logical about it, why didn't Nancy have a sex change. Since she already had a hysterectomy, she would have been "closer" then "he".

So is the father (sperm donor) going to get involved also. Maybe the sperm donor is a he that use to be a she (yea, I know not possible)!! Talk about mind boggling!!

Beattie Out with Groin Injury.

Bend switch hitter, Tom Beattie, will miss the remainder of the season with a groin injury. The versatile pitcher reportedly was hurt while training for a new position as catcher.

Beattie, who bats right and throws left, said, "I thought I'd be more productve by putting my bat in the lineup every day. Unfortunately, as a catcher you're more prone to this sort prolonged time away from the game."

Beattie went on to say that he had hoped he and his battery-mate, Nancy Beattie, would have been able to produce many runs together. What I have a lot of trouble with is the "real" woman that married a man from the waist up and the hips down, with everything in between female. OOOOOKAY.

I don't know. If he's so worried about how people will react to him giving birth, why shout it out to the entire world?

A long time ago, when a teenager gets pregnant and the family wants to hush it up, they'd send the kid to Switzerland or something. After the birth, the baby is either adopted or the parents (grandparents, really) raise the baby as their own. I'm not passing any judgement on whether this is "good" or "bad", just that it can be done quietly if there is enough aversion to bad publicity.

The last thing they'd do is go on Oprah and whine about how misunderstood they are.

Just have to add: I still don't see how he can claim to be a man when he has female reproductive parts. It's just so... arbitrary.
