patiently waiting
I have waited about 2 hours once for a physical.
I know my doctor and he knows me. I have his cell phone number, home phone number, email address and my nurses phone numbers too.
We know each other fairly well. He knows about my lack of sunscreen, poison Ivy episodes, skin rashes, bee stings and my almost yearly stint with allergy induced broncitis.
He said to me once, "if it is a simple thing like any of the above items, just email me. it doesnt cost me anything to make a phone call and call in a script. No insurance forms to fill out, no overhead to worry about.....Cheaper. But If I tell you to make an appointment ASAP to be seen, make it and just come in."
As far as waiting the two hours once, I over heard him talking to the guy in the next room, about some form of cancer that he was just diagnosed with. I just took a small nap on the table and said....My wait is nothing compared to what the guy in the other room is about to undertake.
Oh....My doctor also went to my wedding and was actually the first house that I painted as a small business owner about 16 years ago. Friend and mentor.
I just had to have a physical for a health card for driving something over 10k lbs. He was currently booking for like July.....But I got an appointment a few days after the call. The nurse said, "he won't mind staying later to see you." There was no appointment on the books for a few months. But I got one.
I truely think you should have a good relationship with your primary care doctor. I don't think I could have it any other way.
