Am I Watching Too Much Csi On Tv?

Reading the newspaper this AM, there was a photo of some US soldiers questioning two Iraqi's about possible sniping at a US convoy.

Am I being naive about the ability to check these guy's hands for GSR, and then maybe detain them or beat the crap out of them? (although the Geneva Convention frowns on that type of treatment), wink, wink, nod ,nod.
