    Opportunity knocks

We have 5 pictures my wife wanted matted and framed. I told her I'd make the frames. She wanted to get the mats made, so she took them up to a framing store. She agreed on a price of $105.00 for the mats. She told me it's a good thing I can make the frames because it would probably be close to $1000.00 if we had the frames made too. Hmmmmm, I wonder what kind of tools I need.

You need a mat cutter so you can make the mats yourself.

I have one and a decent one costs right around what those 5 pictures will cost to mat.

The chief cause of failure in this life is giving up what you want most for what you want at the moment.

Time for some framing and matting tools (and perhaps a little side business??... since you can see what they're getting for this type of work).

My local Woodcraft has a Picture Framing kit that has a mat cutter and other things needed to build frames, I have never looked carefully at it as it was at the end of the pen supply isle, you might want to check it out. Most art supply stores have framing tools and equipment for sale also.

Used to work for an art gallery. I can say that some stores like Michaels and even Hobby lobby sometimes have Ready Made Mats that you can buy. We even carried some to be competitive. Much cheaper then custom mat cutting.

Why didn't you tell me that a few days ago? It's your fault I have the opportunity I have now.
