    That is funny!

I almost had a "haircut of the year" back in early '91.

I had been in Japan for 4 years and just arrived back in the States. In my church denomination, some large churches request a missionary to be a "missionary in residence" at their church during their stateside stay. My family did this one year in a southern state that had a certain governor who later became president.

After being back for a month, it was time to get a hair cut. I went to a local barber and sat down, listening to the conversations, which touched lightly on politics and the economy. My time came and I got into the chair, a few generic greetings and words were exchanged.

I then said, "I have been reading the state papers lately and there sure are a lot of unflattering caricatures of the governor in the state papers, almost daily. Why do people not like him?"

That barber stopped, looked in my eyes, and with the clippers running - said very harshly - "Are you one of them xd!f#h@ ! . . . . . . . supporters?!!

Me - and quickly: "I just got in from overseas for 4 years and trying to learn what is going on back here!"

I was nervous through the whole hair cut!

I learned that politics are off limits in barber chairs too - even if one is being totally innocent with his comments!

          A rhetorical question

How many of you young folks remember when they had enough hair to get a haircut like that?

Just wait until you need to wear a hat to keep your head warm -- indoors.

          Regards, Steve
