    Snow Gloat

For the first time in five years, my district has run out of snow days! Even though I'm snug at home in my jammies today (that's the gloat) we'll have to make up the days in June.

Oh well, at least there will be a lot less snow to shovel in June....

I think after my nap I'll stare mindlessly at the TV for a while...

Lucky You! I had to drive in through about an inch of new stuff this morning. You'd think drivers up here would know how to handle snowy/icy roads, but not a chance. Ended up taking side streets the whole way because the highways were all full of bumper-car wannabees.

Most of our snow is gone now. We had a 53 degree day, the day before yesterday (minor flooding). They were calling for a little snow last night, but it missed us. It's 33 degrees, with sunshine now. Close to 10 degrees below normal. I don't want any more snow days until late December.

'Round here, we do that because we feel like it, rather than because there's nothing else to do...

We had about 46" of snow in February alone. That would have been OK, but we also got about 6" of rain. We'd get a foot of snow, followed by a thunderstorm - repeat...

I am still glad to be living where it is warm enough to snow in the winter.

Last night we had some freezing rain which put a nice layer of ice on everything. Follow that up with 3-4 inches of snow mixed with more freezing rain. Had to stop half way to work just to clear the ice off the wipers and they were frozen again by the time I pulled into work.

Snow days? You mean when 3 flakes fall and the city shuts down? Like here?

At the risk of turning this into a brag fest, we had 25 inches YESTERDAY!

So maybe you'll understand if I don't feel too sorry for those that had to contend with a few inches ...

                    Andrew, that is cheating!

Of course, my snow-blower is 2 shovels and 4 kids ages 13 - 22... I'd estimate it at only 1/2 horsepower, but it always seems to get the driveway done by supper time...

We have a vacation home at Lake Tahoe. In mid-February, I cleared 3 and a half feet of snow off our deck after clearing it in December. A week later, they had a storm with three more feet.

We're not complaining. No snow in the mountains means no showers in the summer. Except in LA. Those folks steal all out water

Word came through tonight about the next storm coming up from Texas, making it's way to Southern Ontario. They are saying that it will be dumping up to two feet of snow on us with strong winds piling it up even higher. Guess I'll be home all weekend.
