I've seen in some sigs where people have their own websites out there. Also, I've seen references to some efforts in beginning their own website.

I thought I would extend an offer to help anyone with their website. Particularly the smaller sites with a few pages looking for design help or some getting started help. I just figure how often can people get free help?

I host my wife's website, and can offer help in hosting your site if you are looking at getting started. Otherwise, anything I do that you want, I'll turn right over to you.

My own web site is a little over 2 years old now. I just gave it a makover a short while ago. I know how much hard work it is to get it started and keep it updated. That is a very generous offer you have made and if anyone is thinking about a web site he/she should immediately take you up on it.

There are free ways of getting started. It really depends on what you want to do with your site. For example, I wanted a sort of "dumping ground" for a number of website ideas that I have. I use a webhost for my sites, and I have a resellers account. I pay around 10 bucks a month for this account. My domain (the url or webaddress that you type in to find me) costs me 8.88 per year through Namebargain.com.

There are plenty of cheap hosting sites that offer PHP and MySQL as well as other databases. You can also use their resources to install open source website builders/forums/guestbooks, and all sorts of things.

Normally, when I'm getting started, the hardest part is coming up with the domain name. I use a who-is lookup for domain availability, and when I find one I like, I buy it since I think the ~9 bucks is worth getting a name I want.

In addition to my wife's business site, she does a blog. Initially I hosted the site for her, but she wanted to use blogspot.com because it was free and easy. I believe they are immediately indexed through Google, and we both agreed that she'd have a better shot at being prioritiezed in search results by going through that site for her Blog. (not to mention it was one less application based site I had to maintain)

One other note, its worth poking around at a fewother websites and coming up with comparisons. So you can say,I want it to look like this, or I want these type of pages with content.
