    Need Help With PW Hookup

I got a new pressure washer, and got the water hooked up OK and it works great. Now, as for the soap hookup. The first picture is the only picture from the manual showing the hookup for the soap injection hose:
    .

    .
A clear tubing goes from the tank (in front of the frame), and gets pushed onto a brass barbed fittting on the side of the pump (the first one to the right):
    .

    .
I got that OK, but the book doesn't say what to do with the intake fitting if you're not using soap. There is a separate head for the wand for using soap. So, does that intake have to get plugged, or is there a one way check valve. It seems to spray OK just left open. There weren't any plugs in the parts bag to do anything with that fitting. Would I get more pressure with that plugged?

My last question has to do with a fitting on the back of the pump:
    .

    .
It's a brass fitting with a black plastic doo wah pointing up. Again, the book doesn't say what that is or what it's for. What the heck is it?

    Thanks for any input.

I'm really no help but how 'but tech support from the manufacturer or a call to the dealer for a contact to their local repair shop. They should know something.

It'll only suck up soap when using the soap nozzle on the wand, the rest of the time it won't suck up anything so you just leave it open, no pressure difference.
