    Anyone here ever.....

Has any of you ever purchased wood from Hearne Hardwoods. Looking at their web pages, the stuff looks great.

How easy are they to get along with in person, even though they're a bit far from me, I really like to pick stuff out myself.

No, can't say I ever heard about them. Oxford, Pa., pretty far for me, but probably closer to Jeffrey Schronce. Have him run point for ya.

You might ask Jeff Schronce about this guy. I think that he has had some experience with him but beyond that I know nothing.

        Bruce,

Can't say I have but after this weekend I can say yes. I have had this on the to do list for a few weeks but life got in the way. I am a newbie to woodworking and I need some good lumber to play with and secondly I want to show my boy their massive band saw. I live about a half north of Oxford in West Chester. I have been told by a co-worker that Hearne's is great and so are the people. I am willing to take some photos for you if you need some scouting done or if you need some specific information either post here or send me a private message.

        Sparky

P.S. Sorry for the short notice.

          Sparky,

Thanks for the offer. What I really need to know is how accommodating they are. What I'm looking for are mainly short (3-5' long) 5/4 to 8/4 stock of highly figured tropicals. Primarily Tulip and Olive. I can't get these woods locally, although I go to a nearby yard (ML Condon) that's only about 15 miles from me. They got great stuff, and prices to match,

I really don't want to go the mail order (sight unseen) route as I always want to pick the stock myself, and sometimes totally change my mind depending what I see,

Any feedback you can supply will go a long way in making up my mind as Hearne is a bit of a drive from me, I'm about 35 mi north of Manhattan.

          Many thanks,

          Bruce
