    Anyone know about conversion vans

We are currently looking for a used conversion van with low miles (9 seater). They seem almost impossible to find. But I do see lots of 2007 low mile passenger vans (look like church/prison vans). The wife would prefer not to drive around in a prison van, so does anyone know if it's possible to get a passenger van and then have someone customize it with the high top and 6 captains chairs?

I have been searching around on the internet but it seems like every conversion company I come across deals only with dealerships and new vehicles.

I would try local auctions, craigslist.org, cars.com, ebay, and other online resources to find a vehicle that might be a state or two over from you.

It's a little specific and not done by the factory so you'll have to do some digging to find one that fits your specs. You are looking for a custom van.

    Good luck!

And look for something with a documented history that places it far away from the Gulf Coast, as there is a flood (pun intended) of made-over lemons coming out of that area in all directions.

well, back in 1999, i bought one that was a 1989 with low miles. but i can remember, looking for one was painful. a clean + low milage combination is extremely difficult, unless you fork out a lot of money.

like you said, mostly the people who convert them usually deal with new vehicles. however, if you do find a place that will install a high roof, you need to make sure that it is certified roof by some auto standards. i dont know where you will get information pertaining to this. however, it is important because, in the event of a rollover, the roof needs to be rigid enough + connected properly to provide atleast some minimum protection.

        good luck!

          Thanks.

It may be that my wife may have to become a warden and just drive a prison van, ok a church van. We need something we've outgrown the suburban and seems like the next logical step. A conversion van would be nice but I can't see spending what could buy a small house on a vehicle.
