Got A Bit Of A Scare

On the way home from San Antonio yesterday we stoppped at one of the new Lowe's. While we were there the wife started to complain of chest pain asd light headedness. For her, lightheadedness is about the norm, but chest pains radiating down the left arm worried me.

I got her in the truck and started back home. She was still having some chest pain when we got near San Marcos so I called our doctor and was told to take to the ER. Initial test ruled out a heart attack or blood clot but he wanted her kept over night. After rerunning the blood work and the EKG, they are pretty sure it is just a muscle strain around the chest cavity. She was released this morning and I guess she felt better, since she had me take her to Sam's on the way home.

She had an appopintment with our doctor scheduled for the 28th so he told her to use a heating pad or warm compresses 3-4 times a day and he would see her then.

Wow! That would make anybody more than a little nervous. Glad to hear she got a good report, not that a muscle strain is good, but it sure beats what you were thinking it was. Take care of her, and we wish her the best.

I get the same symptoms and pains all the time. I have a hiatal hernia that the #$%&* insurance company won't let the doctors operate on because I'm not dying or something like that. Doctors have continualy ruled out heart problems. Hurts lots sometime to the point of barely being able to breathe. The pain entirely mimics that of a heart attack including sometimes pain down the left arm. Sucks to be me sometimes. I have also had in the past muscle pulls in the rib cage and i can attest that they hurt like all ****. Hope your wife feels better soonest.

So Don, just have to ask. What were you looking at when she started getting these chest pains? Was it perhaps a subconscious, 'Oh Lord He's Not Going To Get Another One of Those', moments?

I ask because I get them when LOML walks by the sewing machines that cost more than a car (the ones I buy that is) and stops to look.

Great story, I like the ending. The beginning and middle, not so much. Hopefully there will be no sequels.

              Thank God she is okay.

Thumbs up.. Pappy. If I had known that I wouldn't have give you the "ribbing" over in the other thread. I know how you and she felt as anything at our age that has the same symptoms as you know what.. you react as if it is you know what and that alone shoots blood pressure up.

Hope she recovers in a few days...

                Regards...

Glad the prognosis is good, Pappy. But don't take any future symptoms lightly. Better to err to the side of caution than to let the "false alarm" complacency set in. My ex-wife several years ago had a heart attack (requiring multiple stents) 2 days after a stress test gave her a clean bill of health. Fortunately, she did not take the symptoms lightly and sought immediate help, or she would not be around today.
