When my father got up there in years (over a decade agao), he followed his doctor's advice and got a flu shot. He got really sick from it (must have been back in the "live virus" innoculation days?) He swore he would never get a flu shot again - he said he'd rather have the flu! Apparently the vaccine is better now...
My son got hit really bad with a flu in December. The wife and I were careful to wash our hands frequently and avoided touching our faces without first washing during the two weeks he was sick (yes - he was completely wiped out for two weeks straight, he couldn't shake it). We came through without geting it. He ended up coughing up blood towards the end. Nasty stuff going around.
