I disagree with that, as this member said..

I see nothing wrong with a member pointing out to someone that they accidentally posted something in the wrong section. The mods have enough to do.

        Mark,
I like Sarge have sent money for the help of running this forum. I have yet to se it posted and as of today I do not have the added features for my profile. The money was sent two weeks ago via PayPal. You did not have any trouble sending me an email about my signature line( Which I have changed) I will abide by the rules, however I think contributing members should get what they pay for.

Stating that we are our own watchdogs meant that members do well in what and how they post. There's no hierarchy of member importance with relation to post count or longevity of membership. I've got better things to do than play self appointed hall monitor. There are "rules" and suggestions for reporting a questionable post. I don't think a members' intervention can promote good will.

I posted the link to the turbotax discount. I want to applogize if this was out of place.

I have used many of the tips and bargains posted here and the posting was an attempt to repay a bargain with a bargain from the world I see everyday.

I would suggest a "bargain area" for no woodworking ideas. I come across lots of bargains that are outside woodworking but I believe others would benefit from.

I am not talking about an area to spam or promote or personally profit from btan area for true non woodworking deals.

Thanks to all that make this a great site and I will watch the "rules" closer from now on.

Mike, Having only been Admin for two weeks if updating paid subscriptions is within the scope of my responsibilty Sam never told me. Rest assured you will get proper credit and full use of your subscription as soon as Sam updates it. I am sorry if you believed it to be an automatic thing, which it is not. It must be done manually one user at a time AFAIK. I'll alert Sam of this and I'm sure he will get to it soon.

As for the other part about your sig line: Thanks for changing it. I hope you also took the time to read the full topic that was also included in the message by myself to you.

The default is to grant each member with IIRC 10 positive points. If no one has added or subtracted to your reputation you will not see anything.

Folks let's take a deep breath and bring this back on topic. I have moved the "reputation" posts to a different thread as it is a different discussion.

If the comments directly about another forum member continue we will have no choice but to either EDIT, DELETE, Lock Topic, or some/ all of the preceding.

I sincerely want to read others views about the substance of the rules. How they relate to posts. If for no other reason it will cause less confusion when I or another Moderator has to step in and clean things up.

Your over the top ego probably has caused 50+% of the arguements I've noticed on this site. Fortunately for you, most of the members on this site will be quiet before they decide to put you in your place. Unfortunately for the rest, the same is true.
OK, now this thread is regressing into "Name Calling", and I'm getting insulted by some of your behavior.

We post bargains that are at our local big box. As we all know those bargains sometimes are nation wide, sometimes regional, sometimes hit and miss, sometimes just that local store (not to mention the prices can vary). We really don't know until we hear from other people how wide spread it is.

The problem I see is where is the line from posting a bargain at a big box store to posting something someone is selling around the corner / Craigslist / Local Classified paper / posted on a bulletin board at work.

The big box store might have a bunch of items left when the poster was in there, but totally gone before the poster can get it posted, a lot of people in and out of those stores (that don't even know about this site). That single item could be around for weeks, since less people know about the item.

I really have no problem when someone posts something from Craigslist, it might not be in my area, but hopefully someone here can take advantage of it. Sometimes I check them out, even when thousands of miles away, it gives me an idea on what used items go for.

Would like to see something in the title saying what, where, price. Save the trouble of having to open every post.

OK folks, it does seem like that people are posting threads in answer to something else before reading all the way down.

When posts are done in refuting something before reading the whole of the threads, flames continue. MarK requested everyone to take a deep breath.

I am requesting the same before flames get higher!

Part of living in "community" is the self censorship out of care, concern and mutual respect for others in the community. AS moderators and administrators, we do not like censorship, but sometimes locking a thread or deleting a thread become necessary for the good of community.

You are in the Silver Patrons group and should have the "perks". What specifically is not working?

In a word, no. That's not what BT3Central.com is about. There are other forums that are about that and do a good job at it, no need to re-invent the wheel.

No. This isn't a problem to be solved with technology or programming, it's a behavioral one. Since this forum has been around, 99% of the members have been able to abide by the rules. The others have figured out that BT3Central.com is not the place for them and have found happiness elsewhere. This is not to be misconstrued as a "snotty attitude" on my part, just an explanation of how things have worked out.

A reminder of the already stated rules is not an attempt to fix anything. Mark, who I have trusted to administer the site, has seen fit to remind everyone of the rules of the site. That's all.
