    What's Your Hot Spot

If you ever get to Fort Lauderdale, a very unique restaurant called Mai Kai, is an authentic polynesian attraction, that has great food and great shows. They have been tops in the area since 1956 and put on dinner shows featuring native dancers, and fire dancer, (check it out).

Got anything unique in your area?

Naww, this is Amish and Mennonite country. The 'authentic' restaurants aren't special - just some odd dishes like hot potato salad and cooked red cabbage. It's all very heavy fare. If we get one more Mexican or Chinese restaurant I'm going to hurl. I envy you, c.man. We have to travel a bit more than an hour to get to a Thai restaurant. Very different but good. They like spices and fruits and so do I.
    Blessings,
    Chiz

Been there, and it is excellent. Coincidentally, also in Lauderdale is Chima, an absolutely fantastic upscale Brazilian steakhouse, where you can protein-load until you are beaten to death by your own arteries...

Haven't been there (yet), but if it's on Las Olas, it's probably good. That's kind of a touristy area, high priced spread, high rollers, and wannabe's.

Not the most picturesque section of Las Olas, but reservations are a must, and valet parking is a real good idea.

Around here it is barbecue. There are a couple good spots that all have one thing in commmon - they still cook over a real wood fire as opposed to gas.

There's a chain steak house near me that I frequent. The steaks are pretty good, the prices OK, and one of my former students (now a poor broke college kid) waitresses there. We get excellent service and leave a sinfully big tip.

Plus when it's busy I get preferential seating...

I did eat once at a different steak place. $50 for a porterhouse. Funny thing was, the steak was worth $50. Best piece of meat I've ever eaten.

Dang, now I gotta go fix a snack....

Nothing really fancy in our small town. Mamcita's serves up some of the best TexMex anywhere, along with a hot sauce that will clear your sinuses.

If you want steak, it's a trip to Texas Red's in the old cotton gin. Peanuts on the table, shells on the floor, and some boys on the kitchen that know what to do with a good chunk of beef!
