    It doesn't get much simpler than that. Thanks for the link. I'll do pretty well without it, but LOML could use it for sure.

            That is a great idea! It is along the lines of using the camera strap wrapped around your arm to brace it, but i think this would be more effective. I think i'll make one for when i'm hiking and i don't want to carry a couple extra pounds of tripod.

              I've made those using a 1/4-20 eyebolt. Learned the trick from a photographer I used to work for. Sometimes you need a tripod, but for the rest, that's a lot esier to roll that up and stick it in your pocket.

                As Bob suggests, this is an old field photographer's trick, though no less a good one. In other variations, when you're shooting from an awkward stance you can tie the cord to a tree limb or sign post or whatever.

                  It's a little too complicated for me. I usually prefer solutions that involve duct tape. (Didn't Red Green do something like this on his show once?)
