Benefits of a garage workshop & a maple gloat

It was a very nice day today, so I was out doing a little work in the garage. Several people in the neighborhood were out biking -- among them a guy from down the street whom I've met several times but never really got to know. He came riding up because he noticed the band saw in my garage and said, "Hey, I didn't know you were into woodworking..."

He went on to tell me that he was relocating and unfortunately his company was not paying for the relocation. And then he went on to say that he'd salvaged some of the wood recently from a fancy club that was remodeled. And then that he was planning on either burning it or throwing it away because he couldn't take it with him. And then he said, "Do you want it?"

    So lookie what I got!

All is hard maple, and a lot of it has some very nice figure. Fancy club indeed... I'm thrilled!

Yah, but aren't you just a bit too young for working with machinery.
Darn it, any of my neighbours moving never have any wood to give away.
              Congatulations.

Maybe I should leave my garage doors open more and move the tools to the front. Atlas I live on a cul de sac - not much trafffic.

I look a lot younger than I am, I guess... And thank you, cgallery, for recognizing my fashion prowess!

I actually live on a cul de sac, too!

So, realizing that I needed to actually move the wood inside (and that with my clearly diminutive size, I could not just carry the sawhorses in with the wood ), I started stacking it all against the sides of the garage door opening so I could free up the sawhorses and move it all inside.

I couldn't resist snapping another shot.

Oh, and yes, I have been known to shoot some hoops while in the shop. After all, this is Tar Heel country! ...I just can't stop smiling...

That stash should keep the LOYL busy thinking up "projects" for you. Hmmm some of which will require new tools. Man you are lucky.
