    Crazy weather

Yesterday we got maybe 8-10 inches of snow. This morning it was 2 above zero, with wind chills around 15 below. Tonight is not quite as cold, but still cold. Warming spurt coming in. Sunday and Monday looks like 52 degrees for the high. There goes the snow!

Ed, I drove through that storm along 70 - a bit south from where you are. It snowed as far as Dayton, then picked up again east of Columbus. It didn't really stop until we got just north of Charleston WV. I am sitting here looking at an overnight low in mid-20s and thinking that is gonna be cold.

Get ready for more. Couple of big storms moving through Northern CA and head your way. Should be here Thrusday nigh through early Sunday and then you can have it next Wednesday. Weather people on TV are happy they finially have something to do. CA weather normaly is BORING, so they tend to go tover he top when things start happening. Hey it's winter we get storms in winter, we are supposed to get 10+ft of snow in the mountains and 2-3 inchs of rain in the valley that normal. go back to sleep. It has happend all my life. Spent many a winter day in the family cabin at 7500ft and buried in 20ft of snow. Dig down to front porch open door start fire in fire place, open kitchen window get snow make coffee. Don't do it any more to old and don't like the cold.

We were suppose to have got 3-5" yesterday. With the 35 mph winds it's hard to say how much but no where near the 3-5" more like .35" biggest drift was only about 10 inches. Most areas were bare!! Tomorrow they are calling for single digits. Then it warms up to 40 over the weekend (as of a few minutes ago).

I don't mind the cold, but I do hate when it's singles digits one day then 40-50 degree weather the next. I like it better when it is more consistent. Time you get use to the cold it warms back up.

Looks like I may have mouthed off to soon yesterday. This storm that is coming to the West Coast is a little more serious than I thought. The high winds are the big concern 65mph could cause a lot of problems with power outages and downed trees. We have couple of big trees in our yard but I think they will be ok as the leave are all gone. Neither one has limbs that would cause serious damage if one came off. There will be alot of small stuff and both the birch in the back yard and one of the trees in the front yard tend to be self pruning. Going to get some batteries for the radio and make sure all the flash light work. Plent of food in the house. Lot of scrap wood for a fire if need be. Lucky for us the temps will be in the 50 so we won't have to worry about that or snow in the valley. The various lakes are low so there is plenty of storage so flooding won't be a issue this time, street flooding yes. So I will do some prep today insteat of shop time. At least at our age we won't have worry about a new addition in months if we cuddle.
