Gave my wife a bit of a scare...

So I got my WorkSharp 3000 for Christmas (thanks to this thread: http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=34968).

I pulled out an old chisel and sharpened it up. Just like the video says, it gets "scary sharp." So I went into the bathroom to test it out.

Then, of course, my wife walked by and glanced in to see me standing over the sink with a chisel at my neck. She looked a little concerned and asked what I was doing. I told her I was shaving, of course. Then she gave me one of those "I'm glad I'm not a man" looks that women are so good at, and then rolled her eyes and walked away.

It's a great sharpener, by the way... probably my favorite gift this year.

I came close to getting one of those myself. But I thought better of it. My wife does a lot of cooking, but she used band-aids practically every day! Not because she is using dull knives, but poor techniques (good cook, though). An exceptionally sharp knife would cause her to lose limbs!

I got a Rockler gift card for Christmas. I came real close to getting a kit that was a 'scary sharp' type kit - included the glass, starter sandpaper and the honing jig. I ended up getting a Kreg jig instead. The kit would have charged me 20 bucks for a piece of $3.00 glass and a few dollars worth of sandpaper.

At least the cut would have nice, clean edges--better for the reattachment surgery...

just by reading the title, i was expecting some blood, cuts ...... dont we just think of the negatives!

i hear what you are saying Ed. my wife is always hurting her self aswell. cooks real great, but hurts herself at least every two weeks or real close to it. things like burns, nicking her fingers with the knife. in the past 4yrs, since we moved to our new home, she has managed to slip three times, dislocating her knee once! so, in short, she scares me more often than i ever scare her.
