Can you upgrade the HD on the TIVO Series 2 box?

Anybody ever tried upgrading their TIVO series 2 box with a bigger hard drive? I have a box with a 160GB HD in it and wanted to know if I can put a bigger hard drive.

Just put 400GB drives into our S2 DTiVo. All you need to know for that task can be found on this page:

        Good luck!

It's a pretty easy process to just upgrade the drive size.

While you're at it you might want to look at installing some of the 3rd party tools/hacks. These can give you a web interface to the Tivo, save/export recordings in the clear, and more tools/utils.

It's a great time, because you'll have a current backup (your original drives) so it's a nice safety blanket for folks who aren't totally comfortable.

I would agree. There is a scrpit here http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html that makes the upgrade fool proof and the support for it is here http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=250680

The hacks are legal and they give you some great features like - undelete, web access to your season passes and multi-room viewing.
              Thanks again,
              Mike
