    Favorite Christmas Carols?

There was this one woman I met in college...

No seriously, I like O Holy Night but when it is sung well and the singer actually crescendos it. I also like What Child Is This? - it was my grandfather's favorite.

        O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
        Wie grün sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
        O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
        Wie grün sind deine Blätter!

        O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
        Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat schon zur Winterszeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
        O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
        Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!

        O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehre:
        Die Hoffnung und Beständigkieit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
        O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

O Christmas Tree O, Christmas Tree,
        Your branches green delight us.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
        Your branches green delight us.
        They're green when summer days are bright;
They're green when winter snow is white.
O, Christmas Tree, O, Christmas Tree,
        Your branches green delight us!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!
How oft at Christmas tide the sight,
O green fir tree, gives us delight!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
        Your branches green delight us.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
        Your branches green delight us.
        They're green when summer days are bright;
They're green when winter snow is white.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
        Your branches green delight us!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
How are thy leaves so verdant!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!
        Not only in the summertime,
But even in winter is thy prime.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure dost thou bring me!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure dost thou bring me!
For every year the Christmas tree,
Brings to us all both joy and glee.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure dost thou bring me!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
        Thy candles shine out brightly!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
        Thy candles shine out brightly!
Each bough doth hold its tiny light,
That makes each toy to sparkle bright.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
        Thy candles shine out brightly!

My favorite this year is one done by Kenny Rogers called Mary Did You Know. I believe that Wynonna Judd did the song with him. I really like that one this year.....well and every year.

I guess it depends on the rendition and my mood....we've got a lot of Christmas albums. Josh Groban's "O Holy Night" is pretty moving IMHO. I like Karen Carpenter's "Little Alter Boy" too (when played thru my main system....it does little for me on a boom box) . I liked alot of the Manheim Steamroller stuff when it was newer. For more upbeat stuff, I like "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" album with various 50's artists, and I've got a "Creole Christmas" that blows my mind.

If I had to narrow it to just one song..."The Hallelujah Chorus" has got to be the most inspired piece ever.
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

                    Merry christmas Darling

and that GOD AWFUL song about momma's dying and her boy has got to get her some shoes to meet Jesus, please some one put my head in a microwave w/out the benefit of poking me with a fork first.

if I never hear that song again, it will be to soon

This song is the reason that we invented Tactical Nukes, to use against the station, and program manager that puts this schlock on the air

                    hrrgh....

I do how ever enjoy playing the older carols, on my recorder, and my horn it is very relaxing

O Holy Night really sounds good, in the original Klingon...

Come on guys, the best Christmas Carol ever is Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song. The best. It was written by Mel Torme. A second best is White Christmas as sung by Bing Crosby, written by Irving Berlin.

When I was a kid, the record that I played continuously this time of the year was the Ventures Christmas Album.

My all time favorite is Sleigh Ride as performed by Lorrie Morgan. Although not a Christmas song the stations only seem to play it this time of year Alabama's Angels Among Us is great! Alabama's Christmas in Dixie is a close second of my fav's.
