    CompUSA Going Out of Business

Read in Wall Street Journal that CompUSA is being liquidated. Be careful buying anything which has a mail in rebate. CompUSA is bad about not honoring MIRs so now that they are going down the tubes be extra careful.

Could make for some good deals. Their pricing alway stunk so it would take 70% to get excited about any of their pricing. Too bad they don't sell Festool or Sawstop! LOL!

CompUSA closed all their stores here the Mpls/St. Paul area last year. This was the company who laid off all their senior store sales staff and invited them to apply for their jobs at lower pay!

I feel bad for the good people who lost their jobs, but it couldn't happen to better management group.

The firm was majority owned by the richest man in the world, a Mexican man named Carlos Slim, who I understand may have a lot of other shortcomings in the ethics department.

You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

I read that Carlos Slim went from a net worth of $53 billion in March of this year to $68 billion in August. That's an increase of $15 billion in the span of 5 months. How does this happen? Must have something to do with the fluctuating value of the dollar. At any rate, I bet he has one helluva shop!

I read an article that said that Carlos Slim sunk about 2 billion into CompUSA before the decision was made to pull the plug. I'm not sad about seeing the store go.
