A Pretty Handy Guy

I had a dead pine get damaged by the wind we had last week. It was pretty close to the house so I had a guy come by to drop it for me this weekend. His work 'truck' is an old school bus that he bought and chopped. He left 2 rows of seats behind the driver -this gives him room to haul 6 guys + gear if he has to and he can carry a few tons in the bed. He is a former diesel mechanic so his personal cars are older Mercedes diesels.

When he came yesterday he had his homemade tractor in the bed. I didn't get the details on it but it looked pretty hefty.

Now that would have made for some good pics. Tractor sounds interesting.

On the tractor - I think he said it was the rear end of 2 duallys including the gear boxes with one flipped to be in front so as he would have 4 wheel drive, but he'd figured out a way to use the 4WD tranny so he could select 2 or 4 wheel. I forget what the engine was, I do know he had a PTO on it. He is working on a pto-powered blade to handle some of the bigger trees.

I told him he seemed pretty good at the mechanical stuff and he just said he always could fix most anything that broke.
