In our neck of the woods, there has been a lot of illegal actions taken by politicians. Some have gone to jail, and others remain free. They range from vote fraud to stealing large chunks of property from the government.
There were a lot of government officials taking home cars that were bought with taxpayer money. Due to public outcry, many of these vehicles have been taken away from those abusing the practice, and it was widespread. Following is the latest scandal concerning an official taking advantage of his position.
A few weeks ago, someone accused one of the politicians of using the county gas pumps to gas up his private vehicles. At first he denied it. But someone had videotaped his vehicle being filled up by one of his subordinates. Now he admits that he should have been a little more forthcoming, admitting that he did indeed fill up his private vehicles at the county owned gas pumps. But he still says he didn't do anything wrong. Since his "take home car" was no longer available, he had to drive back and forth to work. But he did not receive mileage pay, and there was "no written word" stating he could not use county gas pumps to fill up his private vehicles.
Come to think about it, there is no written word that says I can't fill up there either. 
This is the same guy who let his 17 year old son drive a county car around, joy riding. Guess what? The kid had an accident!
A lot of people have been writing in to the local paper, complaining about practices like this. Some people are trying to convince voters to not vote for any incumbent. Maybe if every time something happens, and it gets out, the incumbents were voted out of office, maybe, just maybe, politicians wouldn't turn a blind eye to things that happen in government.
I could go on and on, but my rant is over (at least for now).
